Rockford, IL (December 19, 2019) – An accident took place on I-39 near mile marker 115 in the southbound lanes that resulted in serious injuries. According to the Rockford Police Department, a semi-trailer lost a tire that flew off the large truck and smashed into another vehicle on the road. The make and model of the vehicle were not released.
The RPD, the Rockford Fire Department and more than one ambulance were on the scene. MD-1 was also requested for the injured parties. The injuries are considered life-threatening.
The identities of the victims have not been released. The RPD is still investigating the details of this incident.
