Rockford Township, IL (February 09, 2020) – A major accident involving 20 vehicles took place on Sunday mile marker 167 on I-39 and 90 westbound. There was a semi, a tow truck, and several passenger vehicles involved in the crash. Multiple injuries were reported.

The incident took place at 2:03 p.m. The interstate was completely shut down for hours at Highway 14 westbound. It was advised that anyone driving in the area find an alternate route. Drivers that were not involved in the crash were stuck for many hours while the authorities were working the scene.

It is not believed any injuries were life-threatening. The number of injuries or the extent of those injuries has not been reported.

The authorities are still investigating the details of what caused the accident.
